Gather among the greenery at Tillery Street Plant Co. for the first installment of The More Than Human World project: an evening dedicated to slowing down and tuning into the gentle rhythms of nature.
This immersive experience brings us into direct conversation with the rose plant through a flower essence making and plant music listening session accompanied with live harp music.
Guest teacher and herbalist, Leighla Molina, will share indigenous perspectives of working with plants, the benefits of the rose, and discuss the energetic medicine of flower essences.
We will craft a rose essence under the guidance of Leighla while listening to the bio-electric responses of a rose plant. Andrea Cortez will demonstrate how she uses a Midi device to convert the electric fluctuations of a plant into musical notes. Andrea will also accompany the rose with her 26-string electric harp.

Brief educational sharing about the rose and ways to connect more deeply to nature and plants.
Make a rose essence together. Bring your own tiny glass vile or bottle to take home the rose flower essence that we make
Some benches will be provided, bring a comfy chair if you would like. Some limited floor space also open for sitting on the ground.
Tillery Street Plant will be open to shop and purchase plants.

The More Than Human World project is the culmination 3 installations related to the album recording Andrea recently completed with harp and plant music. The album will be released for streaming by this December. This project is supported in part by The Austin Live Music Fund 2026.
